The Suva Bowling Club had their third club competition in preparation for the National Trips this weekend.

Trips co-ordinator Daniel Lum On said the reason for the competitions was to assess their players.

“All the teams are now trying out all of their combinations as a build-up to the Nationals,”On said.

“This is our third competition in the lead-up to the National Trips after the Rewa and Tamavua.

“The clubs are testing their combinations to see which players to play for the National Trips.

“This is because each player plays differently and they need to team up accordingly.”

In the previous club competitions; Rewa Trips was won by the Suva ladies, skipped by Radhika Prasad, Ilisapeci Moceiwai and lead Sala Taylor.

The men took out the Tamavua Trips which was led by Semesa Naiseruvati, Sai Tokalau and Eddie Reece.

“The trial we had started off with over 40 players and it has been cut down to the last 10 for both the men and women and these players will be competing in the nationals which is a requirement.

In the semifinals, top seed female bowler Litia Tikoisuva beat skip Samuela Tui 12-4, while Rota Vakaloloma beat Sireli Tabua 13-3.

It was a mother and daughter affair in the final. Tikoisuva too strong for her mother winning 10-4
