More clean-up drives were actioned to help eradicate dengue fever.

Also joining the nationwide campaign, the Labasa Town Council did their bit to clean up at Labasa Town’s Subrail Park yesterday.

The Indian High Commission’s director for of Indian Cultural Centre, Kishan Lal Kanojia, also joined in.

Mr Kanojia was in Labasa for a business visit and he felt proud taking part.

“In India we have a similar campaign called Swach Bharat or Clean India campaign which was launched last year in India by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“I am proud to take part in this clean-up campaign because it’s part of my civic responsibility even though I was here for a business trip,” he said.

Labasa/Savusavu special administrator Vijay Chand said: “This is the second week of the clean-up campaign which was launched by the Minister of Local Government, Parveen Kumar, which ends today (yesterday).

“After this we will have a follow-up series of dengue spraying within and outside the Labasa Town boundaries. We are also extending the collection of extra refuse generated out of this cleanup campaign,” he said.
