More than 500 students of Labasa Sangam Primary were reminded last Friday that everyone was born a leader.

“Always treat each and every student with respect and never abuse the power of the badge you have,” chief guest Arun Kumar said.

Mr Kumar, a retired school teacher, said those selected as prefects today were the leaders of tomorrow.

Sixty school prefects were inducted to lead from the Kindergarten level to Year Eight.

Mr Kumar, who has been teaching for more than 30 years, said students and parents should be proud of those chosen to lead the school.

He said prefects should learn to give respect in order to earn it from other students.

Meanwhile headteacher Delip Chand said that a prefect knows the way, goes the way and shows the way.

Headgirl Mereoni Korovakaturaga said she was privileged to be selected.
