Fiji Airways Airbus bird strike In Auckland Being Assessed

Fiji Airways has confirmed its Airbus A330 operating from Auckland to Nadi yesterday had encountered a bird strike.

The airline was assessing the damage caused as a result of the bird strike.

This had led to delays in the Auckland-Nadi flight which was to depart at 1.55pm (Auckland time).

Fiji Airways is expected to release further details once the assessments are completed.

But in the meantime, it is understood the flight was cancelled yesterday with passengers being accommodated in hotels in Auckland.

The Auckland International Airport has had a history of bird strikes. It is also located right next to a harbour and the birds end up feeding on the sea life in the estuary.
