Tailevu farmers James and Merelita Sirivalu were on cloud nine after their youngest son was badged the headboy of Queen Victoria School in Tailevu yesterday.

Mr and Mrs Sirivalu from Naisaumua Village, Verata, could not describe their emotions after their son Pauliasi Sirivalu was inducted during the school’s prefect’s induction at the QVS chapel yesterday.

Mr Sirivalu said his son had always been an obedient student and his appointment to lead a prestigious school in Fiji was a proud moment for the family.

“Words can’t describe it,” Mr Sirivalu said.

“I am only a villager and when I come to this prestigious school I always came by bus and I see most parents coming in their four-wheel drive and the event today has finally paid off the sacrifices we have made and we are proud parents.”

Mrs Sirivalu said they faced a lot of difficulties while trying to send their son to school at QVS but all that was paid off yesterday.

Pauliasi said his appointment to head the school would enhance his leadership skills and assist him in his future endeavors.

“This is a responsibility that I have to take and I know that this will help me a lot to becoming a responsible person and also assist me in not only my school work but in curricular activities outside the classroom.” Pauliasi said he plans to keep the academic and disciplinary standard of the school during his leadership team this year.

Pauliasi dedicated his achievement to his parents and grandfather, Sakiusa Sirivalu who had always encouraged him to going the extra mile and work towards achieving his dreams.
