Fifty-three student leaders were inducted and were immensely blessed as the day began with prayers to Lord Shiva and Maata Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge.

The prefects were reminded of their responsibilities and were urged to lead by examples.

“Leadership is not bossing around; It is leading and setting examples to our young ones,” Saraswati College headboy Darshik Nitneel Kumar said in Nausori yesterday.

Darshik advised the prefects to be transparent and be honest in their work.

Headgirl Kajol Reema Prasad was honoured to be given the responsibility.

“True leadership involves not only the exercise of authority but acceptance of responsibility,” Kajol said.

Saraswati College principal Premila Kumar said parents’ emotions were conspicuous as they badged their children yesterday.
