The Fiji Badminton Associates will begin the 2015 Badminton Businesshouse team event competition on Tuesday, February 24, at Yat Sen Hall.

This tournament would run for up to six weeks. In a press release issued yesterday the FBA stated the competition aimed to enhance social interaction between other business communities, where they could have fun and at the same time help promote the sport of badminton in Fiji.

The registration and competition information are as follows:

– A team sponsorship fee of $500 and team tee-shirts for players.

– A team shall comprise of eight to 12 players, with players graded A, B or C, depending on their ranking.

Grade A – Competitive player

Grade B – Regular player

Grade C – Beginners

– Each player to pay a registration fee of $20

– All matches will be played up to 30 points (subject to change)

– Each team will be required to field players for A, B and C grade singles and doubles matches.

– Matches will be played on a round robin basis with the finals to be decided on how teams perform during the round robin games.

– Matches will be self umpired, however, in case of any disputes; the competition co-coordinator will be able to assist.

– All match results points will be recorded on the board provided at the venue.  It will be the responsibility of the players and the co-coordinators to ensure that all matches are accurately recorded.

– Teams are encouraged to wear their sponsor’s uniform, if available

– Matches will be scheduled for Tuesdays each week and a schedule will be provided once the draw has been concluded

– Further details of match rules will be presented once the draw has been finalised

The FBA confirmed that all entries close on February 19 and also the tournament formats may change subject to the number of participating teams and players.
