The Fijian Pearls are looking forward to a good build-up on their New Zealand and Australian tour.
Coach Kate Carpenter said yesterday this was the best way to prepare for their upcoming international engagements.

“We are looking forward to our match against Kia Magic as this will help us in our preparation for the Pacific Games and later the World Cup,” Carpenter said.

“Having to play against a New Zealand team will be of great privilege especially with the Kia Magic side where we will be learning how to play their style of netball.”

She said the tour would also help expose the new players.

“So we are giving an opportunity to Losa and Sereana who had played well against Samoa during the Oceania Series.

“We hope that this given opportunity will help them extend their experience into the future,” she said.

The Fijian Pearls coach said the main purpose of the tour was to analyse their performance.

Pearls captain Mere Rabuka-Neiliko said they were going to learn more from the tour.

“Hosting the Oceania Series was a good idea as we had the chance to analyse our performance and improve from there on.

“This tour to New Zealand and playing against Kia Magic will be something similar to playing against the Silver Ferns.

“So we hope to gain a lot from this tour and gain as much as we can from the opposing teams,” Neiliko  said.

The Pearls will play against Kia Magic tomorrow before they travel to Australia to play against the Melbourne Vixen on Sunday.
