Godo Muller-Teut, a German, has been appointed as Investment Fiji’s chief executive serving for three years.

After a lengthy selection process of finding the right candidate and combing out 45 local and international shortlists, Investment Fiji has finally made an appointment.

Mr Muller-Teut brings with him, what Minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism, Faiyaz Koya said is a ‘fresh perspective with the focus of building a high-performance team’.

Investment Fiji executive chairman Truman Bradley said Mr Muller-Teut appointment will now see that a gradual roll-out of its plans and objectives that lie ahead.

“With the support of the board … and the way that the support is moving from the ministry now having a CEO onboard is going to enable us to obtain those goals and objectives.

“We will now be able to reach the goals and aspirations that Investment Fiji has for Fiji.”

Mr Koya said: “The focus is building high-performance team, enhancing our export capabilities and in creating a Governance structure and basically to attract FDI.

I think what must be remembered is that Investment Fiji is crucial part of the Government.

“We’ve had a good chairman who’s taken up the seat and has done a fantastic job so far. Godo’s here to finish the job and give us even more.”

Mr Muller worked at the New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, an equivalent body to Investment Fiji prior to his new appointment.

“I’m German raised in Singapore and educated in the United Kingdom. I’ve spent a considerable amount of time of my life in the Middle East and in New Zealand.

“I have owned and operated SMEs (Small Medium Enterprises).”

Mr Muller says a five-year plan will be formulated  that will help pave the way forward for the Investment Fiji.

In all, Mr Muller-Teut says he will help drive one of the main objectives of Investment Fiji and that is to raise Foreign Direct Investment.

Mr Muller-Teut hopes said: “It is about one common goal and that’s Fiji and the improvement of the economy in Fiji.

“I’ve worked with a large spectrum of nationalities across four continents and I’ve educated in an international environment as well.

“I think an international perspective together with the multi-cultural background will allow me to really see what has been done is being done in Fiji and combine that with outside of Fiji as well.”
