Faizal Khan will be the lone Indo-Fijian player in the Vatuwaqa team participating in the 2015 Fiji Bitter Marist 7s this Friday and Saturday.

Khan, 26, believes race is not an issue since he has been playing rugby in his early years at Stella Maris Primary School in Vatuwaqa.

“This is the first time for us to form the Vatuwaqa team,” Khan said.

“As for me, I have been playing rugby since primary school in Vatuwaqa where I grew up.

“I started playing rugby for Stella Maris and I continued at Marist Brothers High School so it is not a new thing for me.

“I will always play rugby as all Fijians love the sport.”

He said they did not enter 39th annual event to make up the numbers but to give their best.

“We have a good management and we will give it our best shot,” he said.

“Race is not an issue for me; there is no difference as we will work together for a fruitful result,” Khan added.

Vatuwaqa rugby team manager Albert Rosa is calling for sponsors to help the team.

“We need to assist these boys perform and take up rugby as a career.”
