The Suva Primary Schools Netball competition started with the knockout rounds at the National Netball Centre in Suva yesterday.

Nineteen (19) schools from the Suva and Nasinu areas competed.

Suva Primary School Netball president Elenoa Vadei said the competition was mainly to develop young netters.

“There are a lot of students who have the passion for netball but are not given the chance to expose their skills,” Vadei said.

She said the competition had been considerably tough with new students.

“As compared last year, students have come out strong this year which is making the competition tough and the performance have improved as well.

“The competition today is also to gauge the strength of all teams because no team can be underestimated in this competition.”

Meanwhile Holy Trinity Anglican School won in the Under- 9 grade, Veiuto Primary won the U10 and U14, whereas Stella Maris Primary School dominated the U10-12 grades
