Holi knows no bounds as it is a time to spread love and happiness with family and friends.

Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Primary School students and teachers in Suva marked the day with songs, and throwing coloured powder on each other.

School headteacher Kamal Lal advised the students to learn to embrace diversity and seek forgiveness from loved ones.

“Holi is a time to seek forgiveness,” Mr Lal said.

“I am always looking for ways to expose students to various cultures and celebrating them; Holi Festival has been a great opportune time to allow students of different ethnicities to blend and participate.

Chief guest Vikaram Deo, a retired lecturer at the Fiji National University (FNU), said: “ Holi is about triumph of good over evil.”

Mr Deo urged the students not to abuse powers and always follow the path of truth.

Year Four student Tanish Vikash Goundar, said he looked forward to celebrating Holi because he loved playing with colours.

“I believe this festival is about spreading love and happiness with my friends and teachers,” Tanish said.
