A new eatery ‘Chef’s Kitchen’ will be officially opened tonight by the Minister for Industry, Trade & Tourism Faiyaz Koya.

Managing Director Anwar Shah’s eatery is located in Namaka, Nadi right next to his first business house Aims Rent a Car.

“We were in a rental car company for many years and we thought of putting a step ahead in food industry,” he said.

“This is also something related to tourism and the local market as well because we have to look after the local people too.”

Mr Shah had thought of this business for years before he invested $80,000 into this kitchen.

“We will see later on if we require any changes or expansion to the kitchen.

“We wanted to do something in the food industry as my wife is a pastry chef and she knows about cooking and she has great interest in it.”

His wife, Irene Shah is also the Director for both the companies and while she manages the kitchen mostly.

Location

Mr Shah chose Namaka as a location as it was a flood free area and right next to his initial business, therefore making it easier to manage.

“We wanted to do this for many years but we couldn’t get a right location and finally we had an empty space available.”

Chef’s Kitchen has 11 full time staff for two shift work which caters for 30 in-house sittings at any one time.

“Our restaurant is 100% halal and we do not sell alcohol, there are only non-alcoholic cocktails (mocktails) available.

“It is going good so far, we have a very good response, and our staffs are trained well so we had a good feedback from the customers.”

Mr Shah wishes that this business becomes successful and expands further into other areas of Fiji.

As far as other new businesses are concerned, Mr Shah is planning on opening another company which will be Aims Media Partners Fiji.

“The Government of Fiji (Department of Lands & Surveyors) has given us the copyright of doing full detail map for Viti Levu and Vanua Levu.

“Also on all major town and cities around Viti Levu and in that we will enhance the tourism sector,

“I believe all the stakeholders will be supporting this.

“After that we are also doing apartments, Aims apartments, also coming under Aims Investment Limited.”

Aims Apartment is a long term plan that is part of the 2015 project for Aims Investment Limited.
