Hot Weather Likely To Continue

Expect the current humid conditions to continue next week, says NaDraki Weather.

The weather service has also called on the people of Fiji to look after their health in this current condition and to drink a lot of water.

NaDraki Weather managing director and meteorologist, Neville Koop said humidity could reach up to 34 degrees.

“We do not have access to officially reported temperatures, however I can say that many locations have reported temperatures reaching 33 or 34 degrees during the middle of the day,” Mr Koop said.

“Right now air temperatures are high because sea temperatures around us are higher than normal, by about a degree and a half or two degrees.

“Next week’s weather will be largely determined by how the developing low moves, and right now this is very uncertain. Initially we are likely to see the weather start off much like this week, but by the middle of the week we will likely see increasing cloud and rain. There is a risk of hazardous weather around Fiji but at this time this is not certain.”

He said people should look after themselves well in this weather.

“With air temperatures and humidity very high right now it is very uncomfortable for anyone outdoors during the middle of the day. The best way to deal with this heat is to stay indoors under a fan or in an air conditioned office of building.

“You should drink lots of water as you will lose fluids in this heat very quickly. If you have outside things to do then early morning or evening is the best time,” he said.
