The deputy secretary for iTaukei Affairs, Apakuki Kurusiga, is currently visiting all provincial council offices in the Northern Division.

He had already visited the offices in the Central and Western divisions.

Speaking from Savusavu on Wednesday, he said he was visitng the offices to review their achievements as outlined in their contracts.

He said officers had been attending workshops where they covered how to strengthen the financial management and responsibilities of provincial administrators to effectively discharge their legislative functions under the iTaukei Affairs Act.

“One of the major objectives of the workshop was for administrators to discuss important issues relevant to the implementation, evaluation and monitoring of good governance principles, in partnership with key stakeholders,” he said.

Mr Kurusiga said the ministry was passing on the skills to the traditional leaders on the need to properly look after the interests of those they served.
