Year Eight student of Rishikul Nadera Primary School Awantika Cristien Raj could not hide her excitement as she performed a Bollywood item at the Holi Festival celebration yesterday.

Students and teachers celebrated the festival with songs and merry-making with coloured powder.

“Since this is a multicultural school, everyone participated in the celebration and I am happy to be part of it,” Awantika said.

School headteacher Rajendra Prasad said, “Holi is a joyous occasion for people; It is also a time of gathering, forgiving and sharing love with one another.”

Mr Prasad said Holi was itself a message to all people as it wass a festival of peace and harmony.
