Conflict Resolve For Villagers

A three-week course for villages in Sigatoka ended during the weekend.

The workshop, funded by the European Union and conducted by Dialogue Fiji Nadroga-Navosa with Pacific Centre for Peace Building was to resolve conflicts through a peaceful process.

It enabled participants to seek reconciliation through alternatives like dialogue and its processes instead of resorting to violence.

Workshop facilitator Rusiate Ratuniata said, ““We had very positive responses from the public. They were eager to learn new things and ways to solve conflicts without hurting anyone”.

“Traditionally we tend to resolve our problems through the use of violence which is not right.

“The Dialogue Process has the condensed objective of resolving conflict without resorting to physical violence or verbally abusing one another.

“We are so happy to see many people coming to the workshop who were able to equip themselves with knowledge of dealing with conflicts peacefully,” Mr Ratuniata said.

Mr Ratuniata thanked those who have contributed to the workshop.
