Retailers Warned About Stolen Cheques

Investigations are currently underway into a series of stolen cheques that we believe could be used for retailing soon or in the near future.

It is believed that the Westpac Cheque book belonging to DWJ & B Stewart was stolen from the company earlier last month and their cheques are being used for retailing.

Police confirmed that they have seized 4 cheques from various retailers.

“We wish to advise members of the public that more cheques could be used in the near future.”

The Police is pleading with retailers to be on alert while trading using cheques and not to report any cheque from the company DWJ &B Stewart. We wish to apprehend the perpetrator as soon as possible to avoid disappointments for any business owners.

For further queries or to report the matter, please feel free to contact the Samabula Police Station on 3381 222 or Crime Officer on 9905 399.
