Police Station To Be Completed Soon

Maintenance work at the Labasa Police Station is expected to be completed by the end of this month.

This was revealed by Northern Division heads at a Government department meeting at the Commissioner Northern’s conference room last Friday.

Acting Commissioner Northern Alipate Bolalevu had asked when Police officers would be expected to move back to the police station at Nadawa Street.

Police officers stationed at the Labasa Police station were shifted to the old court house late last year.

A senior official from the Transport department in Labasa said the Police officers would be moving out from the old court house by the first week of April.

“We have received the funds allocated for the Labasa Police Station renovation project and work is now in progress,” the senior official said.

“We should be able to complete the renovation works by end of this month because it’s a three week job.”

The official said renovation works for the old court house at Jaduram Street was completed last year.

“The benefits of the renovation work results in a proper functioning quality electrical system, reducing health hazards, minimising of disruptions etc.

“Also the building structure will add value to the building’s life span. It improves reliability and durability.”
