Solomon Airlines has chartered Nauru Airlines’ Boeing 737-300 to operate between March 10 to 29.

This is as the Solomon Airlines’ flagship Airbus A320 undergoes scheduled annual maintenance in Manila, Philippines.

The chartered Boeing 737-300 will be used on its weekly services to Port Vila, Vanuatu, and Nadi and its four weekly Honiara-Brisbane services.

Solomon Airlines’ general manager of Operations & Commercial, Gus Kraus, said the scheduled maintenance programme was standard for the A320.

He said this was keeping with the carrier’s extremely high standards of safety and the Airbus schedule of maintenance that encompasses all aircraft whether they be one type or another.

“The Nauru Airlines’ B737-300’s configuration is slightly smaller than our Airbus A320 but is more than adequate to cater to our requirements across the period of maintenance,” Mr Kraus said.

“Luckily for us, Nauru Airlines has made one of its aircraft available as in keeping with these planned maintenance programmes.

“We have previously sought other operators to assist but most are unable or some have been too expensive or not capable of meeting our scheduled requirements.

“We apologise for any inconvenience this situation may have for our passengers but look forward to maintaining our schedule to our clients and the country with this leased-in aircraft.”
