Rain Affects Bauxite Shipment
Heavy rains affect Bauxite mining up North.

Heavy afternoon showers are hindering the progress of Bauxite stockpiling by the Xinfa Aurum Explorations Limited in Bua.

This was highlighted by managing director Isireli Dagaga during an interview.

Mr Dagaga had stated they do not mine on wet weather conditions because it affects their production.

The company expects to mine 400,000 tonnes of bauxite from its current mining site in Votua village in Bua.

“Ships only come once a month and that depends on whether we’ve got enough on the bauxite stockpile too,” he said.

“So now we are just stockpiling and the heavy afternoon shower is hindering our progress.

“We expect the next ship to arrive on the 4th of April.”

It is understood a bauxite shipment will be shipped out next month.

He stressed sometimes they ship bauxite twice a month but it all depends on the stock pile and the weather condition.

“In June we sometimes make double shipments if there is enough bauxite stock pile and its good weather either than that it’s one shipment per month.

The company is planning to make 10 bauxite shipments to China this year.
