Business growth and more economic development are expected soon at Nausori Town, thanks to ongoing developments.

The growth will be raked in on the completion of the new Nausori Market and bus stand next month.

Other developments include road rehabilitation leading to the town and at the Nausori International Airport.

The Minister for Local Government, Housing and Environment, Parveen Kumar, said construction was   near completion.

He said about 1900 people had applied to become vendors in the new market.

“This, I say is one of the biggest number of people in any market,” Mr Kumar said.

“The Nausori Town Council has taken a very positive step and this is reflected with the number of people wanting to sell their produce at the new market.”

The town caters for people from three provinces – Rewa, Tailevu and Naitasiri.

Mr Kumar said the new market and the bus stand, once completed, would bring a lot of relief as well as opportunities to the town.

He said they were looking at constructing a women’s accommodation centre where female vendors from the three provinces would be accommodated during weekends.

“Works for the women’s accommodation centre would start once construction for the new market and bus stand is completed,” he said.
