Fijian prop Kirwan Sanday was named the Musashi High Performer for round two in the BLK Queensland Premier Rugby competition last Saturday.

The former Fijian Under-20 prop and Flying Fijians squad member in the June 2014 Pacific Nations Cup, captained the 2013 Premier champions Easts Tigers to defeat Samu Kerevi and Chris Kuridrani’s GPS side 20 – 18 in a tightly fought match.

The ‘Game of the Round’ was live-streamed on the St George Reds website.

Sanday was judged by match officials to have made the biggest individual impact to the game that saw a scrummaging penalty try to Easts.

Also featuring in the match was former Outrigger on the Lagoon Nadroga U20 flanker Jonasa Dulo, playing as a lock forward.

Dulo is the son of former heavyweight boxer Mosese Kavika.

Dulo is on a visitor’s visa to Australia and last week turned out at No. 8 in the first game of the round that Easts beat Norths.

Kuridrani and Samu Kerevi did not play in GPS’s loss to Easts.

Kuridrani played on the wing for the Reds which was thrashed by the Brumbies 29 – 0 at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane, while inside-centre, Kerevi was out injured with a pulled hamstring muscle.

Other Fijians who featured in Round Two of Queensland Premier Grade Rugby at the weekend include, winger Veresa Vuki scoring the only try for his Norths side that went down 24 – 7 to reigning Premier champions Queensland University and South’s flyhalf, Teti Tela who converted a try in his side’s 19 – 17 loss to Bond University.

MUSHASHII HIGH PERFORMER OF THE WEEK

For the fourth year in row, the next generation of Queensland Rugby talent will be recognised throughout the 2015 Queensland Premier Rugby competition thanks to the ‘Musashi High Performer of the Week’ award.
