Being one of the top two teams in the 2015 World Rugby Pacific Challenge has not made Samoa A complacent.

Head coach Potu Leavasa insisted the team were expecting a tough game ahead of them in the third round when they play the Telecom Fijian Warriors tomorrow.

Leavasa said the challenge would be greater for the Samoa-based players.

“It’s going to be a very hard game for us especially for the local players,” he said.

“It’s their first time at this level and also it’s a big test for them against Fiji. For the game against Fiji, we focused on our training on our plan and we’ll go from there.”

Reflecting on the two previous rounds, Leavasa was pleased with the pace his team had set so far in the competition.

“I think we’ve done well so far against Tonga and Canada last week. We’re focusing on the Fijian team on Wednesday.”

Leavasa said they had enjoyed their time in the country so far and acknowledged the support of the Samoan community and hosts.

“It’s been very good. We’re also very thankful to our people here for their support and also the Fijian people for their support and hospitality.”

Meanwhile, the team took some time out last night to celebrate halfback Vaiofaga Simanu’s 21st birthday with staff at the team camp at the Peninsula International Hotel.

Samoa A plays Telecom Fijian Warriors in the final game of round three at 5pm tomorrow at the ANZ Stadium in Suva.
