Inoke Bainimoli Ducia was a talented and dedicated athlete, says Albert Miler

The Athletics Fiji coach Albert Miller made the comment when he delivered the eulogy at the Raiwai Methodist Church yesterday.

“Inoke Bainimoli was a goof athlete, a great teammate and had done Fiji proud in athletics,” Miller said.

“He had set records that still haven’t been broken which is very pleasing and the talent he had in athletics is un-coached,” he said.

Eldest daughter Luisa Mocea Pickering (Ducia) mourns the death of her father.

“He was a family man and was someone who is always caring and loving in everything he did for his family was always number one in his list,” Pickering said.

“We thank the Lord for giving us a father like him.

Bainimoli is survived by his wife Adi Litia Qoloniwasawasa Caucau and children Litia Mocea Pickering, Sereana Batiwaqa Naituku, Vasemaca Baleinoco Ducia, Jovilisi Rayalu Ducia, and Josua Tuinasakea Ducia.

He died on March 5 and was  buried at the Nasinu Cemetery yesterday.

Bainimoli’s athletics achievements:

– In 1978 he competed in the South Pacific Athletics Championships in Tahiti and won bronze medal in the 200m (22.3sec) and gold in the 4x100m relay (41.86sec);

– He represented the Fiji in the 1979 South Pacific Games here in Suva, where he won bronze in the 200m (22.52sec) and gold in the 4x100m relay(41.86sec).

– He also competed in the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles where he ran in the same heat with legendary Carl Lewis.

– In 1984 he also competed in the South Pacific Athletics Championship in Suva winning bronze in the 200m and gold in the 4x100m relay.

– He won a silver medal in 1983 SPG in Apia in the 200m and got gold in the 4x100m relay.

– He also competed in the 100, 200 and the 4x100m relay in the 1985 Mini Games in the Cook Island.
