Almost There, Says Gilman

Almost there, says veteran musician Gilman Lasaisuva on the work of his new album.
Speaking to GM, Mr Lasaisuva said it has been a hectic time for him in putting together his latest album titled ‘Gilman Classics’ which contained his hit songs from his earlier albums.
“It has been a long journey,” he said.‘Sitting there in the studio and looking at the work being done by the sound engineer brought back many fond memories. From the days we recorded our album on cassettes and now we’ve gone on CDs.”
Lasaisuva said he had to defer the release of his new album because other bands had released their album during the last festive season.
He pointed out his hit songs like O Lakeba, So Na Siga So Na Bogi, So Era Vakataroga, Ramatau, Mai Gaga Voli and Vorolaki Au are some of his many hit tunes included in the new album.
Like I had said earlier, Mr Lasaisuva says, it was unfortunate that my backing female vocalist Lela Seruvakula from those hit songs was not available for recording as she now lives in Wellington, New Zealand.
“But I’m glad that Ditui Abariga- Raoma has stepped in for her. I’m also very grateful to sound engineer Simi Rova for helping me out in this recording.”
Mr Lasaisuva added that he is looking at releasing his album after
Easter and the venue for the launch has been set for Ed’s Bar in Martintar, Nadi.
“We will confirm the date once we get closer to the day,” he added.
