The Nadi Technical College, formerly known as the Nadi College will open as a technical college next week.

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama will be chief guest.

The Government aims to provide better and quality education in the hopes to bring about the changes to better the education.

Chairman of the Nadi Technical College Board of Governors and Member of the Parliament, Sanjit Patel, said: “Many people will benefit from this college. High school drop outs and early school leavers can now benefit from this.

“Having one technical college will have a better control over the system. There will be better and quality education. Students who are slightly slow in catching up with work can now get their second chance to complete education.

“The idea basically is concentrated on the students to provide them with basic skilled training. It starts at a very early stage and is determined to provide some knowledge to the students.

Under the Fiji technical college are three campuses – Nabua Sanatan Campus, Nadi Dr Shaukat Ali Sahib Campus, and the Labasa Vanua Levu Arya Campus.

More campuses around Fiji will be opened in the future to reach out to the people.

With the increase in demand for blue collar jobs this technical college hopes to meet that demand.
