Court Not The Way

Don’t expect the courts to change a decision made by the Native Lands Commission on iTaukei disputes.

Some people are fond of quickly going to the courts if the Native Lands Commission decision is not their favour.

What the courts are likely to do is refer the case to the iTaukei Tribunal of Appeals, where it should have gone in the first place.

Political servants

It is evident that some civil servants are forgetting their role.

They have been reminded by the Prime Minister to put away their political biases and work for the betterment of the nation and the people.

These politicised civil servants are those responsible for leaking information to anti-government bloggers and those of their ilk.

Vunimoli en route

A new road could be constructed from Vunimoli Settlement near the Lovonilase Cemetery in Suva up to Princes Road as part of efforts to improve traffic flow.

Residents are reluctant to move.

However, they have breached the Rivers/Streams Act that says all houses beside rivers should be six metres away from the river bank.

This could count against their efforts to stay put.

Tree time

Mickey Bird has been flying around Fiji admiring our forests.

At the launch of “One million tree planting programme by 2011 campaign” at Savura Forest Reserve in Colo-i-Suva, Viliame Naupoto said 999,978 trees would be planted in Fiji within 365 days.

Looks like a lot of these trees are growing.
