The Outrigger on the Lagoon Fiji resort which will be known as the Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort from next month, is organising a fundraising walk to raise funds for the Sigatoka Special School.

The walk will be about 5.9 kilometre from the resort to the school on April 11.

Money raised will go towards the tiling of the school’s veranda and installing new railings.

Resort general manager Peter Hopgood said the work was needed to ensure the safety and comfort of students.

“Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort was committed to seeing that the work was carried out.

The walk is a community initiative led by the resort to foster involvement in the upgrading of education facilities for children with special needs.

“The school motto is ‘Everyone Is An Achiever’ and we want to do what we can to help them attain their goals,’’ Mr Hopgood said.

The walk will begin at Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort where participants will gather at 6.45am.

From the resort they will walk to Korotogo Roundabout, Muasara Junction, Fiji Gas Junction and Nayawa Junction before finishing at the Sigatoka Special School where they will be welcomed by students and teachers at 9am.

Certificates will be presented and there will be prizes, giveaways, games, activities and light refreshments.
