Fiji Technical College students studying at the Dr Shaukat Ali Sahib Campus in Nadi are eager to complete their trade courses and join the labour market.

The campus was opened yesterday by the Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama.

Office management student from the School of Information Technology and Management, Shushmita Kaur of Korovuto, Nadi, was among the happy students.

“This technical college gives a better opportunity for many to complete their studies. I wish to complete my course and get a job as an office clerk one day so I can earn a decent living,”Ms Kaur said.

Christopher Valentine, 19, of Navosa, studying Automotive and Mechanicals said: “I look forward to furthering my studies at the Fiji National University after completing my course here,” Mr Valentine said.

Saihab Akmal Ali, 17, loves cooking and is a student at the School of Hospitality.

“My parents always want me to be an accountant, but they have accepted my passion in cookery.

“I hope to achieve my certificate and make my parents proud in what I love doing. I love pizza and I enjoy making them, especially a thick based chicken and pineapple pizza with extra cheese topping,” the Nawaka resident said.

Like Mr Ali, there are many students of different ages and different backgrounds who are there in the hope to achieve something worthwhile.

Fiji Technical College now have three campuses – Nabua Sanatan Campus, Nadi Dr Shaukat Ali Sahib Campus (formerly Nadi College), and the Labasa Vanua Levu Arya Campus.
