FSC Donates 5 Tonnes Of Sugar

The Fiji Sugar Corporation (FSC) yesterday handed over five tonnes of sugar to Government as part of Fiji’s cyclone relief assistance to Vanuatu.

FSC general manager operations Nemani Veikoso handed over the donation in Lautoka yesterday to divisional planning officer western, Sitiveni Tavaga.

“The Fiji sugar industry fully supports the incentives of the Government to help our regional neighbours,” Mr Tavaga said.

“We as the industry, like anybody else, decided to assist our brothers and sisters in Vanuatu in whatever way possible. We do hope that whatever small donation we have provided will bring sweetness to people in Vanuatu.”

Mr Tavaga thanked the board members and the sugar industry for helping Government provide relief assistance.

“This is part of the sugar industry’s social responsibility. This is timely for our Pacific neighbours, the people of Vanuatu, when they need every support as they strive for their recovery,” he said.

Acting Permanent Secretary for Sugar Parmesh Chand said, “The donation is our way of saying that we are here and we do care and we are assisting you in your hour of need.”
