A timely donation of 1000 library books came the way of Drasa Secondary School in Lautoka last Friday after they started the Drop Everying And Read (DEAR) programme.

The DEAR programme was emphasised to improve their English comprehension and language skills.

Donor, 18-year-old Simran Singh Banga, was born and bred in the United States of America.

Mr Banga expressed his pride at having donated educational resources to the school.

His father, Pardeep Singh Banga who is originally from Fiji had family members attending the school.

The donation came  from family and friends and the school library in America.

This is Mr Banga’s fourth trip to Fiji and he is already planning on many more trips to Fiji in the future.

School principal Rajesh Chand said the donation came at the right moment as they had just introduced the DEAR programme.

“We are very much thankful to Simran Banga and his family who have chosen Drasa Secondary School.

“The 15 minutes daily reading programme is been taken very seriously by all the students in the school every morning,” Mr Chand said.
