ANZ Announces Partnership For Mobile Phone Banking Solution
ANZ and the Banco Nacional de Comércio de Timor Leste (BNCTL) have announced a partnership to explore opportunities to develop a mobile phone banking solution for customers in Timor Leste.
ANZ CEO Pacific & CEO Fiji, Vishnu Mohan, said he was delighted to partner with BNCTL to support both banks’ aspirations to help ‘bank the unbanked’ in Timor Leste.
“BNCTL’s local experience and strong representation in Timor Leste, coupled with ANZ’s technology and expertise in mobile phone banking, provides a unique opportunity to deliver financial services across Timor Leste,” Mr Mohan said.
“ANZ is fully committed to helping the communities in which we operate, including in Timor Leste where we’ve had a presence since 2001.
Mr Mohan explained that across the Pacific region, about 80% of the population don’t have access to banking services, mainly due to geographical restrictions.
