Nausori Commercial Development Successful Bidder To Be Announced

Government is expected to finalise in about two weeks the successful bidder for the commercial development of the existing Nausori market site.
The Minister for Local Government, Housing and Environment, Praveen Kumar, confirmed this to the Fiji Sun.
However, at this stage, Mr Kumar said, he would not be able to release the names of those shortlisted.
“I can tell you one thing we have received some interesting expression of interests at this point in time from individuals and corporate companies,” he said.
“But I cannot reveal anybody’s name although I can tell you that we have received about six expressions of interests.
“Give us about two weeks and we should be in a better position to tell you who would be the successful bidder for the development at the existing Nausori market.”
Nausori Market vendors will shift into the new market facility once it opens in a month or so. Therefore the existing market opens up space for development.
Mr Kumar has previously already indicated they have received expressions of interest of investment value of around $30 million for this site.
Fiji Sun understands one of the bidders has proposed construction of a shopping mall at this existing Nausori Market site.
If this does go ahead, it will be quite a big vote of confidence in Nausori Town.
