Fiji Gas, Peter Lee Part Ways

The Board of Fiji Gas and its chief executive, Peter Lee, have agreed on a mutual separation and agreed to part ways.
In the interim, Harvie Probert, has taken over the role of the managing director.
Mr Probert confirmed this to the Fiji Sun yesterday.
He said the board and Mr Lee had agreed to part ways and no further details about this could be revealed because of their confidentiality clause.
Mr Lee had been appointed as the chief executive of Fiji Gas 18 months ago.
Mr Probert said his role is an interim one until they find a new chief executive.
All the normal processes of recruitment is expected to be followed and Mr Probert said they have not yet set the timeframe as to by when they will appoint the new chief executive.
Competition
There is an obvious battle going on between the only two gas companies in Fiji – Blue Gas and Fiji Gas.
Both companies are battling for a bigger market share in a Commerce Commission price controlled market.
Despite this, Mr Probert said business is performing very well.
Some background about Peter Lee
Mr Lee has previously held a number of high-level executive positions in big companies in Fiji and New Zealand.
In 2010, Mr Lee had resigned from his role as Carpenter Group’s Pacific deputy chief executive citing personal reasons.
He had been in that role for around 20 months covering Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu, Solomon Islands and Australia.
Before that he was the general manager of Coca-Cola Amatil (Fiji) before moving on the Coca-Cola’s New Zealand operations as commercial director in Auckland for three years.
