Is there a new owner of the Valavala Estate in Savusavu? Dickie Bird flew in last night with news that the new owners have taken over from former owner and ex-Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka.

The new owners, Dickie Bird says, have already started works on two major projects planned for the 1000-acre plus estate.

Interestingly, the first project is the setting-up of a cattle farm with plans for a state-of-the-art beef processing plant to be built later in the year.

The second project, described by the Ministry of Agriculture officials in Savusavu as ‘top secret,

They started last month on planting programme of a special breed of coconut trees as construction of a coconut juice factory is next on the new owner’s list.

NO INTERFERENCE

Discussion is ongoing between the country’s aviation authorities and the Methodist Church of Fiji.

The discussion is on the tall mahogany trees that are on the hill, behind Dilkusha Home in Davuilevu, Nausori.

Dickie Bird was told that aviation authorities had showed their concern and wanted the trees chopped as bigger planes are now flying into Nausori International Airport.

The trees are said to be on the flight path of the aircrafts that are coming in to land.

LOGGING                PACKAGE

A United States logging tycoon is currently in Vanua Levu looking to set-up his business there.

Dickie Bird said word was that he was in Taveuni during the Easter weekend with his local business partners.

They are interested in a few areas there and are having talks with the mataqali (clans) about the lease.

Dickie Bird said part of the package put to the landowners is for this company to fully fund the construction of a school and hospital for the village.

MISSING IN

ACTION

It seems a certain person who recently courted trouble for social media outbursts has been playing hide and seek.

Word on the street is that this person while active of social media has been missing in action.

But, with some determination, the other party is sure to serve papers as soon as possible.
