Wrong Move

A few Police officers in Suva who were anticipating a hefty payout decided to take an advance from moneylenders.

Dickie Bird said they had thought the money from the payout would enable them to repay their debt and at the same time they would still have more to spend.

To their dismay things did not go according to plan as they did not receive the anticipated amount and whatever they managed to get went straight to the moneylender.

Saws on hold

Remember, the ongoing talks between the Methodist Church and aviation authorities over the chopping of those tall mahogany trees behind Dilkusha Home. Well Dickie Bird said everything is now on hold as the church has decided to seek for an environmental assessment.

Dickie Bird said due to the re-construction of the Waila highway, those mahogany trees are said to have been the reason why there is no soil erosion in the area.

Aviation authorities are looking to clear potential obstacles in the flight path as more jets use Nausori International Airport.

New-type hotel

Did you know there’s going to be a new hotel right in the heart of Suva? Dickie Bird said the local partner of this venture is about to seal the deal with its overseas counterpart.

Once done the construction works start. But Dickie Bird says, what will make it more interesting is that this hotel is apparently going to be a ‘non-alcoholic’ one.

What boycott?

So what’s this Opposition talk about the PM boycotting the Pacific Islands Forum meeting in Port Moresby? Last we heard Fiji had not made any decision to resume membership. So how could the PM not going to something Fiji has not resumed membership of be called a boycott?

Maybe the SODELPA crew are still smarting from the strong criticism of their own boycott of Indian PM Narendra Modi and trying to cloud the issues.
