Students of Suva Methodist Primary School (SMPS) have been introduced to a new road safety initiative that uses fun and practical materials to raise road safety awareness.

Called the Road Safety Cube, it is a partnership between Total Fiji Ltd, the Land Transport Authority of Fiji, and the Fiji Rugby Union through the Vodafone Fiji 7s team.

SMPS headteacher Taito Weleilakeba welcomed the programme and said he believed the knowledge imparted to students would go a long way in pushing road safety.

“We acknowledge Total Fiji and LTA for introducing this initiative which is very important to students, especially primary school students,” he said.

“This is the right time to teach these young kids so that everything they learn will go a long way and they can teach their elders.”

Total Fiji Ltd managing director Martin McCarthy said they were concerned with the number of accidents on our roads and the initiative would be an idea to promote awareness, especially to school students.
