Fiji’s position on the involvement of Australia and New Zealand in Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) does not in any way mean Fiji wants China and Japan to be included in the Forum, says the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ratu Inoke Kubuabola.

Speaking to the Fiji Sun yesterday, Ratu Inoke said the interpretation that foreign media, in particular the Australian and New Zealand media has made of Fiji’s stance, is not correct.

Ratu Inoke said: “Our position has been very clear on that. The Prime Minister has made this very clear now and again. ANZ (Australia and New Zealand) media continue to speculate.

“We have never said that we want China to come in or Japan to come in. The Prime Minister has been made it very clear for Australia and New Zealand to move out and we would consider coming in and that position remains,” Ratu Inoke said.
