Stakeholders are meeting in Holiday Inn to assist Fiji in formulation of its foreign policies.

A first of its kind workshop was opened by Foreign Affairs Minister Ratu Inoke Kubuabola yesterday to facilitate discussions on Fiji’s draft foreign policy statement.

Once finalised, this will set the pace for Fiji’s engagement with its international partners.

This draft statement sets out the principles, priorities, goals and objectives of the foreign policy of Fiji.

Ratu Inoke acknowledged that the 21st  century presents the dynamic landscape of international relations in both the regional and international arenas.

A Foreign Policy Statement will help Fiji to achieve its own foreign policy goals whilst maintaining a stable and sustainable system of international relations.

“It is aligned to the Government’s strategic directions in the post-election period and is duly chosen to safeguard our sovereignty and national interests whilst achieving the goals set within its international relations”.
