NZ Gives Fiji Red Cross $75K

In a bid to support the ongoing relief effort for Severe Tropical Cyclone Pam victims in Vanuatu, Tuvalu, and Kiribati, the New Zealand High Commission has joined hands with the Fiji Red Cross Society (FRCS) by donating FJ$75,000 towards replenishing relief supplies.
New Zealand High Commissioner to Fiji Mark Ramsden presented a cheque to the Director-General of Fiji Red Cross, Filipe Nainoca, and acknowledged the vital role FRCS plays in providing humanitarian support during crisis.
“The New Zealand Government is committed to support emergency response in affected countries which is further strengthened through our ongoing partnership with the Fiji Red Cross”.
Mr Ramsden said the donation will be able to replenish some of the relief supplies that were provided to help TC Pam affected communities in Vanuatu, Tuvalu and Kiribati.
“Our support in replenishing the FRCS emergency supplies will help ensure the Society stands ready to respond to future natural disasters that will inevitably impact Fiji and neighboring countries” added Mr Ramsden.
Mr Nainoca said while FRCS received several donations from various sources intended for TC Pam victims in Vanuatu, New Zealand’s $75,000 donation is the only one received so far specifically to help FRCS replenish its relief supplies.
