A senior prefect of Lomary Secondary School in Galoa, Serua, could not describe her emotions after being awarded the Best Female Cadet prize at the school’s passing-out parade.

Asena Nakaiwalu was among more than 100 students who took part in the parade at the school ground yesterday.

“I’m much honoured to be chosen as the best female cadet out of all the females who took part. I would like to thank all my fellow house members for making this happen,” Asena said.

“I am also a prefect and this programme has moulded me to be a good role model to the students and to my house members.” She attributed her success throughout the training to her parents and teachers at the school.

“We did our very best for today. We were able to meet the expectations of the instructors and it was really good.”

Asena intends to pursue a career in architecture.
