The Constitutional Offices Commission met for the first time at Suvavou House in Suva yesterday. The commission members are:

– Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama (chairperson)

– Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum

– Opposition Leader Ro Teimumu Kepa

– Structural engineer Sanjay Kaba and Accountant Ajith Kodagoda, appointed by President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau on the advice of PM. Mr Kodagoda was not present.

– Lawyer Richard Naidu, appointed by Ratu Epeli on the advice of Ro Teimumu

– Solicitor-General Sharvada Sharma, commission’s secretary.

The commission advises the President on the appointment of the following:

– The chairperson and the members of the Human Rights and Anti-Discrimination Commission;

–  The chairperson and the members of the Electoral Commission;

– Supervisor of Elections;

– Secretary-General to Parliament;

– The chairperson and the members of the Public Service Commission;

– Commissioner of Police;

– Commissioner of the Fiji Corrections Service;

– Commander of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces;

– Auditor-General; and

– Governor of the Reserve Bank of Fiji.

The commission will hold its next meeting on May 8.
