More than 150 people turned up to a concert organised by students of International School Suva (ISS) at Ratu Sukuna Park aimed at raising funds for victims of Severe Tropical Cyclone Pam in Vanuatu.

Digging deep was the main theme of the four-hour “One Love Family Fiesta”.

It was initiated by Year 12 students of ISS and featured artists like Knox, Mr Grin, Sassy, Kula Kei Uluivuya and Vou Junior Squad.

Local artist Knox said he was extremely proud of how the students came up with such an idea to help raise funds for the victims of Cyclone Pam in Tuvalu, Kiribati and the worst-hit Vanuatu.

“We are lucky in Fiji that we did not get affected by the cyclone. Unfortunately, our brethren in a few other Pacific Islands got hit badly, so I am here today to do what I can for them,” he said

Event organiser and teacher Bex Nabouta, performing with the stage name Sassy, said the initiative was mainly the students’ idea.

Mrs Nabouta said she was proud of what they put together for the victims of Cyclone Pam.

“As a result of the cyclone we thought that we needed to respond in some way as a school and this came from the students,” she added.

“Our main goal is to fundraise as much as we can for the cyclone victims.”
