The Nadi Muslim College has been running a football academy since 2010.

The academy not only focuses on football, but also in the academic development of students.

With the assistance coming from former scholars, students aged between 13 to 19 years are involved.

The students receive stationery, uniforms, school bags and some food and accommodation.

Nadi Muslim coach and co-ordinator Nadeem Mohammed said the students needed proper nurturing.

“We look at their strengths and weaknesses and ensure that their academic career is not disrupted. This development is to help them grow in football. Four of our players had represented the Fijian Under-17 team,” he said. “Mataiasi Toma is a member of the Fijian U20 squad for the FIFA U20 World Cup.”
