The Police Chief Intelligence and Investigations, Assistant Commissioner Henry Brown, has ordered an investigation concerning a video of an alleged street fight.

The video, which was posted on Facebook, allegedly shows people gathering behind the Suva City Library and men, suspected to be nightclub bouncers/ security personnel, challenging one another.

People were seen clapping and cheering as the fight (like friendly match) goes on however the fight ends when one is knocked out.

The video allegedly shows a man being punched in the face and falling while the other starts hurling abusive words as people around rush to provide assistance to the man lying on the floor.

Assistant Commissioner Brown said he was made aware of the video and has directed a senior officer from the Central Division to look into it and get information of those involved.

“Those involved and are uploading such videos, please be mindful of your actions because this paints a negative picture and such actions must never be condoned,” he said.

Earlier this week, Police chief operations officer, Assistant Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu, had stated that they would take a strong stand against those who continue to disregard and disrespect the rule of law.

This is after the Fiji Sun had highlighted photos and reports of drunk louts on Sunday in the streets of Suva at the weekend.
