Young, New Drivers On Radar

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) said new and young drivers were among those in the reckless, careless and arrogant behaviour driving list.

The list includes provisional licence holders.

LTA spokesperson Iliesa Sokia said the authority had came across most new drivers who were involved in road offence incidents.

“We encounter young drivers who are just too ignorant about traffic and road rules and often find themselves getting booked. We have booked drivers for improper parking, dangerous driving, illegal u-turn, use of wrong entry and exit. These are considered careless driving and they are serious as well,” he said.

“We expect them to consider road safety as their number one priority. The law is there for them to follow. If they don’t, the chances of getting involved in an accident or road related incident is high.”

Since the start of the year, the LTA has booked 375 drivers for careless driving – 2212 drivers were booked last year.
