Auckland City is one step closer to retaining their title after defeating Amicale FC 3-0 to book the final semi-final slot. Joao Moreira was on fire for the City with goals in the 8th, 56th and 64th minute.

City head coach Ramon Tribulietx was happy with the win on the back of a spirited match and looked forward to the semifinals against FC Gaitcha.

“We’ve got four days to think about what we’re going to do, but we’re looking forward to a great semifinal,” Tribulietx said.

Amicable FC coach Marco Banchini was disappointed with the result but pleased with the overall tournament.

“It’s very disappointing and I’m angry with the outcome. But overall it has been a very great experience for us,” Banchini said.

City will face Gaitcha FC after they defeated Lupe Ole Soaga 8-1 while Team Wellington and Ba will feature in the other semifinal after Wellington beat Tafea FC 3-2 while Ba beat A S Pirae 2-0.

City and Gaitcha will play at 4.30pm while Wellington and Ba will play at 7pm at the ANZ Stadium in Suva on Tuesday.
