Ba Coach Vows Best Effort

The Shalen Lal-coached Vodafone Ba expects a tough encounter against Team Wellington in the semifinal of the Fiji Airways OFC Champions’ League at the ANZ Stadium in Suva at 7pm tomorrow.

The ‘Men in Black’ cruised to the semi-final after recording convincing wins against New Caledonia champions FC Gaitcha 3-0, Lupe Ole Soaga FC (Samoa) 3-1 and AS Pirae (Tahiti) 2-0 to top Group A.

Lal, in his first international competition, said it won’t be an easy ride.

“The team really played well in the pool matches, but then again we cannot rest on our laurels,” said Lal.

He said the boys have two days to prepare for the semifinal against Team Wellington.

“The boys are focussed and if they give their best, we should be playing in the final.

“We need to work on our backline and our defence.”

Ba will bank on key players such as striker Saula Waqa, Avinesh Warran Suwamy, Keegan Linderboom, Malakai Tiwa and Jone Vesikula, while Meli Codro is expected to recover from his hand injury.
