Designers Show How Our Next Flag Might Look

Aliposo Avisai Robebenisala Lesidra travelled all the way from his home in Waibau settlement in Naitasiri to drop off his flag design. In his design, the sun represents Fiji’s position in the international dateline. He adds that under the sun, Fiji can be an example to the world because of the diverse races that live as one under the sun.

In the design, the sun has 15 rays which represents Fiji’s 14 provinces and the 15th sun ray is for Rotuma. The green represents life and yellow represents the setting sun. At the corner, two war clubs hold up religious symbols (Christianity, Islam and Hinduism) This is surrounded by iTaukei men performing  the meke and the yaqona ceremony and the tanoa.
